Volunteers

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS.If you think you would like to help prospective adopters but would like to get more guidance, contact us at
281-477-3297
and we will arrange a time for someone to meet you at PRH on a week-end when there will probably be adopters so you can get some on job training.

Dear Poodle Rescue of Houston,

As a regular volunteer at Poodle Rescue of Houston (PRH), I know that receiving “happy tails” from satisfied adopters is important. Hearing the stories and seeing the pictures always causes me to redouble my efforts on behalf of all the wonderful rescue dogs we have in our adoption program so my “happy tail” is long overdue. My 16 year old poodle passed away a year before I started volunteering at PRH. I thought volunteering would be worthwhile and would give me the “dog fix” I was badly in need of, but I had no intention of adopting. Well, that resolve lasted all of four months. In April of 2010, I was volunteering the day that Honey arrived at PRH as a rescue along with three other dogs. She didn’t look anything like these pictures then but I saw her and she saw me and I knew within minutes of my first interaction with her that she would be mine. Once she was vetted, I learned she was six and a half years old and was heart worm positive but would be treated before I took her home. Older dogs tend to get over looked by adopters which is always surprising to me because they have so much to offer. I have owned and greatly loved four poodles so far in my lifetime but never have I had such a connection with a dog as I have with Honey. I am over the moon for this dog. She is everything I could ever want in a pet and companion and then some. She makes me smile every day and brings great joy to my life. As an added benefit she and my cat fell instantly in love. I must include a disclaimer lest you think I am “one of those people” who constantly dress their dog. Honey and I have an agreement; once on Halloween for the neighborhood kids (she was a big hit) and once a year for Christmas cards. Thank you Poodle Rescue for all the wonderful work you do, for all the suffering you alleviate and for bringing this little angel into my life.

THANKS TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for a volunteer to be trained as transport coordinators. Transport coordination can be very rewarding. It requires time, attention to detail, and the willingness to develop and nurture a wide variety of contacts throughout many states. It is an ideal position for a volunteer who enjoys computer work and can gain satisfaction from knowing that they are helping. It's not as hands on as fostering or working at the kennels but it is an essential task to what we do. Please call us if you are interested.

DARRELL

This is our volunteer Darrell. He worked with all of our standard poodles socializing them. Teaching each one to walk on a leash and to trust.

Thanks to Darrell all of our Oklahoma standards found great homes.

We depend on volunteers like Darrell to make our rescue program a success. Please join us in any way you can. We need volunteers to keep our Facebook data and stories up to date and we need people to hand write thank you notes to all the adoptees. Just call and we can place you where you would like to be in our organization.

Poodle Rescue of Houston always needs volunteers to help with our rescued poodles in all kinds of ways. Please call to donate your time and love to our little ones. Thanks so much.
