More Happy Tails

The Poodle Rescue of Houston
has successfully rescued and placed in adopting homes many deserving poodles over the years. We are very proud to tell their stories. We could not make these rescue efforts without the love, kindness and continual support of our patrons. Thanks for all your help!

KENAN WAS ONE OF OUR RESCUE POODLES FROM A HORRIBLE PUPPY MILL

Congratulations once again on your adoption of Kenan.

The before photo of Kenan that we took last July the morning after we rescued him and 26 others from an out-of-state puppy mill.   What a difference you are making in this little dog's life!  Please keep in touch from time to time and let us know how things are going.

CUPID IS HAPPY

Thank you so much for the great photos and the update on Carter (Cupid).  I'm going to forward them to the other staff and volunteers because I know they will be as pleased as I am to learn that the dog we knew as "Cupid" is doing so well. It is very reassuring to know that you are taking such good care of him and that he is receiving the medical attention he needs.

From what you have described in your message, it sounds as though Carter is not bothered much by his respiratory infection and I'm hoping that it will soon be behind him.  He sounds like a very happy dog and you should be proud that you have made such a big difference in his life.  Thank you very much for keeping us posted and please stop for a visit if you're ever in our area.

Best Regards, Karl, Volunteer with Poodle rescue

Quincy's Letter From Michigan

Aren't I the cutest Standard poodle puppy you've ever seen?!

I look especially handsome 'cause I was at the groomer today - the groomer said I was into everything. See what she gave me - this cool toy and the special fall colors scarf I'm wearing.

Love, Quincy

Thanks to Lynn Babcock for flying in from Michigan and adopting Quincy, one of the puppies from the litter we had this summer. Quincy seems really cozy!

DANCER -RESCUED AND ADOPTED

Dear Friends at Poodle Rescue,

On August 30, we adopted Dancer from you.  He went to the groomer today, and just looked so beautiful that I wanted to send you a picture of this sweet boy.  He is completely spoiled, but is also learning to be a well behaved member of our family.  We are so happy to have him in our lives!

Thank you for your undying love for poodles and for being so willing to give of yourself to care for these precious babies who are neglected and hurt!

Nilam Gray

Dancer was rescued from the puppy mill seizure in Arkansas.

JAYZ

Dear Guinette and Dawn,

As you can see, Murphy, aka JayZ is a welcomed addition to our family. I think that I can safely say this is the "They lived happily ever after..." that you work hard for.

Thanks again for not only allowing us to adopt this little munchkin, but thanks for all the hard work that you do everyday for ALL the poodles.

Help Dandilion Find a Happy Home

Dandilion and I met about five months ago when I was called to help rescue a few poodle mixes from the LaPort Animal Shelter which you must understand is very small for the amount of dogs they take in. I had to pick to choose who had an opportunity and who did not. It is a tough decision when the dogs your choosing from have had little human interaction and zero love in the form of affection. There were about 20 dogs surrendered by the husband of a mentally ill woman which allowed any dog of any breed mix to breed. The dogs were unsocial, shivering in the corner of their enclosure with the cluster of their chosen roommates. I entered the run from inside the building. I walked on my hands and knee's through the dog door. Some of the dogs would freeze and tuck their heads in hopes they would not be discovered. I knew I had to be realistic and choose between adoptable and unadoptable, who lives and who might not. It is a decision that bears on my mind when I wake from my sleep. I picked the mutt mixes that I thought would have a chance rehabilitating from the neglect of human contact. The youngest. This girl was cutting her puppy teeth. I pulled her from the cowering crowd along with twelve others and named her Dandilion. A flower in the rough.   She is still with us because we have so many to choose from. Visitors overlook her when they walk our shelter she scurries out the dog door not to be seen.
This is a scared, rehabilitable young poodle mix that just needs someone to hold her and earn her trust. Children would terrify her. Is there someone out there that is willing to adopt her and spend enough time with this girl to show her life is not bad.

DAISY DOODLE AND GRACE
Karen2 was rescued on July 24, 2009, along with twenty-five
other poodles, from deplorable conditions in an out-of-state puppy
mill.   The rescue was conducted by Poodle Rescue of Houston with the
outstanding initiative and assistance of three local humane and rescue
groups.  Karen was found to be suffering from malnutrition, mange,
internal and external parasites, eye infection and ear infection.
During her rehabilitation at Poodle Rescue of Houston, she received
full veterinary care, plenty of clean food and water as well as lots
of human attention and affection.  At the time of her adoption on
September 13, 2009, she was living with three adult standard poodles,
two adult toy poodles and five standard poodle puppies in the home of
PRH Director Guinnette Peebles and her husband Ronnie.  Thanks to her
new owner, a wonderful poodle lover named Peggy, Karen 2 (AKA Daisy
Doodle Poodle) will now live out her life in the atmosphere of
comfort, dignity and human affection that has thus far eluded her.

ROMAN

I'm including a photo of my rescue dog Roman as an update.  We went exploring for muscadine grapes locally.  Was very hot day!  But both son Henry and Roman were plenty happy to be out exploring.  And the other photo shows him in his super model all-groomed up pose.

LUCY LU

Lucy Lu is very happy in the arms of her lucky new mom. Lucy Lu is a cutie pie and we are glad she has a forever loving home.

CHIGGER

Chigger is very happy in the best seat in her block. She loves to mow and be outside with her new Mother.

TIDBIT

One of our adoptable little ones. We do not worry about these cutie pies finding a home soon.

FRANCESCA

This was the day Tammi adopted "Angel 3".  She was going to name her "Dolly" but changed her mind and named her "Francesca", "Fran" for short.  Haha.  Van and Fran, get it?  They have absolutely fallen head over heels about both of their adopted poodles.

DIVA

Just to confirm, all is on track on the Houston end.  I will be picking up Diva today and she will spend the night with me tonight.  She will have a crate, blankets, food, all her records and any medicines she might be taking.  I will leave home early tomorrow morning and plan to meet Tara no later than 9:30AM CDT just west of Lafayette in a little town called Rayne.  Tara and I have spoken by phone and we will be in cell phone contact tomorrow.  I plan to call her when I get to Lake Charles (probably around 8:30) and that will give Tara plenty of time to get to our meeting place.

Thanks again to everyone involved in this adoption and transport and to you for coordinating it.

DR MAX LUX

Dear Poodle Rescue of Houston -

Thank you very much for loving me and taking care of me while in your care for almost 7 months! I wanted to let you all know that I am very happy with my new mommy. She is very very loving and sweet. She has renamed me, Dr. Mac Lux, Dr. Lux for short. It think it is strikenly handsome name, just like me.

NICHOLAS (NIKKI)

We adopted Nicholas (Nikki) in late July and as you can see he is doing great! He loves his big brother Rowdy and his new family. Nikki has been a great addition to our family.

Thanks for all you do to help these dogs!!

SCHATZI & ROCCO

My family adopted a poodle last week from your center you called "May".  I know you must get attached to each and every dog in the rescue center so I just wanted to give you an update on how she is doing.  May's new name is Schatzi, which means "sweetie" in German.  All she wants is to be loved and is the most mild mannered, well behaved dog I've ever met.  She gets along great with the other dogs in the neighborhood and with our cat.

My friend's dog is a schnoodle named Rocco and is Schatzi's new best friend.  We wanted to thank you for taking our new baby in and caring for her until we were able to find her.

I've attached a picture of Schatzi and Rocco for you.  Enjoy.

Thank you again,
Tiffany Dextraze and Family

PRISSY

I just wanted to say thank you soooo much for the wonderful poodle.  Prissy is wonderful.  I let her keep her name because it fit her so well.  I attached some photo’s of her.  All is well, and once again, thanks!!

Have a Super Day!!

STRYDER

Hi!  I'm sending some pictures and an update on Stryder, who my daughter and I adopted this past Monday.  Let me first say that we LOVE him like crazy and he is such a doll!!  Any concerns I had about his getting along with Bob, the Daschund , have completely vanished.  The two of them are constantly at my feet and sharing them well at that ;-).  He is amazing with the kids, who most enjoy playing ball and taking evening walks with him.  He loves his walks, I think it's his time to show off!  Yesterday he went to the groomer and he's just SO handsome.  I could tell how good he felt to be pampered.
Thank you so much Guinnette for giving me the opportunity to have this amazing boy in our lives!  He has brought much happiness to us all even in this short time.  I will keep you updated and send a picture of the whole family soon.

SCARLETT

Scarlett was reluctently surrendered by her loving owner when she was moved to her new assisted living home. Adopted by a great new family scarlett has a big home with a big yard and lots of love.
