Happy Tails
The Poodle Rescue of Houston has successfully rescued and placed in adopting homes many deserving poodles over the years. We are very proud to tell their stories. We could not make these rescue efforts without the love, kindness and continual support of our patrons. Thanks for all your help!

Holly is doing great. I have renamed her Lizette and she has had her first groom with me and has started obedience classes .
Jett-Puff and Lizette (Poodle that he is Jett was a little jealous of her and pouted and gave me the silent treatment for awhile, but he's coming around and inviting her to play with him already).
Thank you so much for allowing me to adopt her. She is such a sweetheart.

Zoey aka Daisy
Zoey aka Daisy is doing great. She is adjusting well. She enjoys running with her new sister and sleeping on her daddy's lap. She got groomed today and she thinks she is very pretty. She loves her new pink dress. I have attached pictures of her with her new daddy and sister.
From Zoey's new Dad.
Looks like Zoey has found her forever loving home. Lucky Doggie!

We at Poodle Rescue are so grateful to Tonda for taking in Rapha and giving him the best time of his life, however short. He couldn't have gone to a better home. Blessings to you Tonda. Rest in peace sweet boy.

Hi! I'm sending some pictures and an update on Stryder, who my daughter and I adopted this past Monday. Let me first say that we LOVE him like crazy and he is such a doll!! Any concerns I had about his getting along with Bob, the Daschund , have completely vanished. The two of them are constantly at my feet and sharing them well at that ;-). He is amazing with the kids, who most enjoy playing ball and taking evening walks with him. He loves his walks, I think it's his time to show off! Yesterday he went to the groomer and he's just SO handsome. I could tell how good he felt to be pampered.
Thank you so much Guinnette for giving me the opportunity to have this amazing boy in our lives! He has brought much happiness to us all even in this short time. I will keep you updated and send a picture of the whole family soon.

Bijoux
Good Afternoon!
I wanted to send you a picture of Bijoux (formerly Bullet). When we got him he was so scared and never left the bedroom. I am happy to report that he now comes when he is called, jumps up and sleeps with my husband Arnie and I every night and loves to sit on your lap! He still will not eat or drink without you bringing him food but we are working on that too! We absolutely love him and he has a home forever!!!!
Best regards,
Barbara

It was one year ago today that Muffy passed away peacefully in my arms. I can't believe how fast life just keeps on moving by. I wondered at that time how I would ever survive life without her after having her for almost 16 years. After 5 weeks of crying myself to sleep every night we adopted Paris at 9 weeks old from the Poodle Rescue of Houston. She was a much rougher puppy than Muffy was at that age but has now calmed down a lot at a year old. We just love her more every day. She has shown me that life does go on, and that she is not her sister Muffy, but she is another wonderful poodle that has stolen my heart. My suggestion to any of you that loose a pet is to get another one and let life go on. It doesn't mean you will ever forget that special one you lost, but it will help you to enjoy life again.

Sunny Boy
Just look at Sunny, formerly Holiday. Isn’t he handsome? I call him Sunny Boy, and he is just that. He is a very active and fun guy. He loves riding in his car seat, neighborhood and park walks, playing in the yard, and visits to his Nana and Papa’s house where he gets lots of attention. He runs so fast and will fetch a ball as many times as you will throw it for him. We are so happy together.
Thank you PRH for rescuing these wonderful dogs. I will continue to support your good work.
Charlsa
**PRH thanks Charlsa back as we receive monthly donations from her which helps us continue.

Loving Sue and Megan
This is Pearl formerly SUE. Sue was the only litter survivor of five. Her siblings died of a highly contagious virus. The puppies were transported to poodle rescue then tested for the virus by our on site veterinarian and placed in our special isolation ward. Each puppy was separated from the other in their own cage and quarantined. The cages were separated into each building corner independently away from one another. Anti nausea injections helped the puppies keep their food down. nutra-cal and Karo syrup helped maintain their blood sugar levels. Subcutanous fluids were administered three times a day. A special mix of Tamaflu was called into the pharmacist. Liquid antibiotics and special vitamin suppliments were added to the regiment. One at a time each puppy would fade and slip away, despite our efforts. Except for one, Sue. Sue beat the odds. She did not contract the virus. Isolating the puppies from each other and being careful not to cross contaminate paid off.So it's Sue that made it all worth while. Our first reward was Sue's survival. Our second reward was the excitement the family shared with us when we approved their application for adoption. Our third reward is the pictures and updates we will get periodically on Sue's new life with Megan. Thank you Sue for what you did for us!!!!!!! Thank you Megan for sharing Sue's future with us.

Toby
Toby is a blind Lhasa-Poo that Poodle Rescue took into its program. Toby has been adopted by a wonderful lady that thought it over carefully for over a week. She could not get Toby off of her mind. Toby finally has that special home we have all been waiting for. We will give you updates on Toby as he familiarizes himself to his new environment.

Hello!
I just wanted to update you on "Libby Lu", formerly known as "Frisky", the wonderful white poodle that we adopted from you in late September.
She is the best dog we have ever had! Loves our girls, Allyson and Shelby, and wakes them up every morning by licking them until they have no choice but to hug on her.
She came to us heartworm positive, but had already had her first treatment. I am happy to report that she is now heartworm clear. Such a sweet disposition and so much love to share with our family! Even my husband, who was a reluctant sell, has warmed up to her!
I want to thank you so much for taking such good care of her. She is truly a blessing to our family!

Hi Y’all,
I just wanted to drop a few lines to let you know how wonderful Eddie is doing. We adopted him in early September and it was love at first sight (once he was coaxed out of hiding). Well, today the shy little guy thinks he can tease his two old brothers, Shiloh (German Shorthair) and Doggie (Cairn Terrier). Everyone is getting along great and Eddie has gained a bit of weight which he needed. He follows me around the house and is doing great on our walks.
Thanks so very much for the wonderful rescue work you are doing. I am recommending your organization to all my friends and relatives.
Best Whishes,
Karin |

Rapha Update
Here's Rapha looking happy on a warm day. For those of you who haven't
met him in person, you can see how BIG he is. Those of you who have
met him can tell that he's put on some weight (~5 lbs) & his coat is
starting to grow out & even get a little shiny.
Rapha found his forever home September 21st! His new Mom, who's name is Tonda, heard about him from a rescue friend and contacted Poodle Rescue of Houston. She felt he was meant to be hers and live out his life with her family. She even went to the trouble of finding out that his name is a derivative of Raphael, which means healer. After many long emails, pictures, and planning, we drove to Arkansas to meet Tonda with Rapha. She then drove back to her home in Missouri. Rapha had multiple tumors and masses removed before he went, and no matter if it's one year or 5 he will have a great loving home to call his own! Tonda is an angel of mercy in our eyes. Thank you for caring! |

BOO the POO formerly known as Dapper Dan
Here is a picture of Boodle the Poodle (or Boo the Poo), formerly known as Dapper Dan. Isn't he beautiful!!
My sister initially adopted him from your organization but was unable to keep him due to allergies. Her loss has definitely been my gain. Boodle is such a joy! I have spoiled him absolutely rotten! He loves to ride in the car so I bought him a booster seat to let him see out but also keep him safe and secured in the backseat. |

Mocha
HI. This is Sylvia from New Braunfels, my husband Richard and I adopted Mocha, now known as Moke on Wed. He made the trip home like a champ. He is getting along great with our poodle Stone. He is still scared of alot of things, but we can already see some progress. He is eating well and is already familiar with "potty" and "sleepy" (that is how we tell them time to go to bed for the night). I will send a photo soon, and I will keep you posted on his new life. We love him. Thank you for the great thing you are doing for these little guys.
We'll be in touch.......

Priscilla
This happy doggie is now called Priscilla aka Margie. She came to Poodle Rescue from the Abilene animal control center. I’ve sent a photo one of the family with Margie. My kids really wanted to name her “Priscilla” so that is what she goes by now. Thanks for everything! |
 |
Sunshine
Sunshine is doing extremely well. She can run and play with the others, stand on her hind legs for treats and dash up her little stairs to sit on the couch. In every way she is a very normal, happy girl. Matthew is her best friend and playmate and he thinks she is the greatest! They both are great lapsitters and television watchers. I feel blessed to have them with me.
They both had some hard times in their past but they are joyful and happy now. I am grateful everyday for Poodle Rescue who saved them and the doctors who helped me get them well. |
Popcorn
Popcorn went into her new home today. She was originally from Abilene, TX. she will be well loved by the two ladies that adopted her. She is in good hands now. Thanks to a lady named Jo and a lady named Margaret that thought enough to sponsor her and of course Poodle Rescue. Thanks Everyone, Popcorn
Sherry
Sherry was finally united with her anxious new owners. She has been through an ordeal. Sherry was surrendered to local animal control facility by her previous owner. Poodle Rescue was called because she had not been maintained on preventative and developed heartworms. She is well now and on heartworm preventative.
Dubois
Dubois was found as a stray and surrendered. PRH had him vetted and adopted within four days to the perfect home. Way to go!!!
Micheux is a happy boy!
Micheux is groomed and dressed ready for his new home. We will miss him but we are happy he will have a good home. The new owners have been studying about blind dogs and how to train them. They researched training techniques and are anxious to pick him up. They are a young couple with no children. They will be totally dedicated to his well being.
Good Luck Micheux

Louie
'Louie' was one of 28 breeder surrendered apricot poodles. There were so many we couldn't give them all names, so he was BC10. His new Mommy and Daddy called all the way from West Texas and asked Poodle Rescue of Houston to help find them a new family member. We picked out this little guy because he had a sweet personality and a beautiful color. They drove all the way here to pick him up, and are so happy they did! They will spend many happy years together.

Shadowette was adopted into a loving family, and her name is now Katrina. Her new Mom and Dad are very happy to have her with them. See Dad supporting Poodle Rescue of Houston by proudly wearing his T Shirt? They are regular supporters of PRH's efforts to save as many poodles as possible.

Sandy
Sandy came to Poodle Rescue as a stray, believe it or not! We thought he would be adopted very quickly, but it turns out he was waiting to go to Spring Bark with us to show off his new haircut. A family with a standard poodle saw him there and the daughter fell in love. Mom was harder to convince, but they came to visit him the next day at Rescue and she said OK. Now he has a great home and a buddy to play with!

Workers of an animal clinic took in a homeless miniature poodle. He was so
badly matted that he could barely open his mouth enough to eat. The poodle
had to be anesthetized before they could cut the hair off. He turned out to
be a beautiful silver color. They brought the dog to Poodle Rescue of
Houston. The dog was then taken to the vet and neutered.
The following week, a man arrived in a wheel chair pushed by his daughter.
He had only one leg and was blind. His wife had passed away two weeks
earlier and he was lonesome. He asked if he could please adopt a poodle.
After determining that the man and his daughter, who lived with him, would
provide a good home for the dog, the rescue volunteer selected the silver
poodle for them. The dog was placed into his arms and within ten minutes,
they were best friends. The family has since let Poodle Rescue of Houston
know that the two have become inseparable.
A stray poodle that would have otherwise gone to the pound to be euthanize
now has a good home and a lonesome, blind, one-legged man has a much needed
companion.

Sara
When we took Sara in it was heartbreaking to see what was hidden in all her coat as months of neglect added up for Sara. Poodles arrive at our door with all kinds of conditions. Some have been sick, injured, unsocial due to neglect or abuse, and just plain scared. We think Sara suffered from most of these types of neglect. But at Poodle Rescue we have a great ending to Sara's story as you can see from the photo what tender loving care did for Sara.
Kimmie
Kimmie was rescued from a shelter. She was so covered with matted hair that we thought she might be a Yorkie Poo. When we inspected Kimmie better we discovered she was missing an ear, either by an animal attack or human cruelty. After some careful trimming it was discovered that she is a purebred toy poodle! She is absolutely gorgeous when her coat grew out. She waited patiently for her forever home. And as the photo of her new Mom says it all... Kimmie did find her forever Mom.

| Dear Friends at the Poodle Rescue,
Just want to drop ya'll a note to tell you how wonderfully Sparky is doing
in his new home with me. We hit it off from the very start, and he is
already my new best friend. I can tell that he is very happy . . . he hops
playfully around the house, and snuggles in my lap, and LOVES to go on
walks and explore. He jumps up and down as soon as he sees me pick up the
leash. Of course I am spoiling him rotten, letting him sleep with me in my
big bed and buying him treats at Pet Smart and such.Thank ya'll so much for bringing this dear boy into my life!Jamie H.

Update on Jack.
We adopted him on Friday night and he has been doing
wonderfully. Thanks again as this is our second adoption with Poodle Rescue
of Houston. Hi, we are the Villanueva family. We're a family of 5; mom, dad, 3 kids
16, 13, & 9. Last May we adopted Sammi. He is the family spoiled baby. He
is on my lap as I am typing this trying to find him a playmate. We will be
moving to a bigger house mid April and we want him to have a companion. My
sons have really been pushing to find him a poodle friend preferably a
female. We love Sammi so much and just want him to be happy. We would like
to stop by and visit to see if we might find a suitable friend. Our
questions.
Your hours of operation? Does bringing Sammi along to find a
friend work best?
Are you open on the weekend? Is there any helpful
information when considering two dogs in the family? I am very very
impressed how well Sammi fit into our lifestyle and I think we can do it
again. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi this is Donna Boehm I adopted the Bichon Frise and I named her Sissy. I can not remember what you called her. I wanted you to know she is doing very well, and has blended in like she has always lived her. She has had only a couple of “accidents” and is very well behaved and gets along great with her brother our other child he is 5 years old and the two have bonded and have become our KIDS, the other dog laid around all day and was getting old and lazy, since Sissy is on the place he is going non stop most of the time and they are a total mess!! Sissy is a joy and thank you for having her there for us to meet and fall in love with and to give us a chance to bring her into our family. She is my constant companion and my guardian too.
Sincerely,
Donna B.
